As long ago as 2000BC, small pull-along horses on four wheels were around. In medieval times small children played at jousting on wheeled horses, which led, during the reign of Charles I to the birth of the traditional rocking horse.
Most of our horses are on a safety stand - invented and patented in 1878 by Philip J Marqua, whose design has altered little since - yet we also supply horses on bows if requested. All are marked with a brass makers plate at the back of the stand and for a small charge we can add a matching plate to the front with an inscription of your choice..
Sometimes we make small horses when we have wood over from a large production run, because we like making them. These are individually priced.
